The Gulf Coast Beaches

I know Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is probably the last place that you would call a "Hotspot" in Baldwin County right now, but even though the oil has landed on our beaches, it is still a beautiful place. In the last ten years, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have survived hurricanes Ivan and Katrina and now it is in the middle of the oil crisis. Ivan stripped the coast of many businesses and homes and it has taken years to rebound, but now it is better than ever!

If you are looking for the perfect getaway Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are the places to visit. The Gulf Coast has miles of turquoise water and white sand. It is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a relaxing vacation. How would you like to lay on the beach, read a book and listen to the waves crashing on the shore? Heaven! The beaches are also a favorite for the children. Ride the waves into shore, build the most creative sandcastle, bury your dad in the sand or just walk along the beach and collect seashells. The beach is for people of all ages just don't forget your sunscreen!

  1. I definitely agree that the beaches are a hotspot in our area. Regardless of the oil, our beaches are still some of the prettiest beaches in the world. I would encourage everyone to spend all the time taking the beaches in while they can. We never know when we are going to wake up and one of our treasures be destroyed for an unknown amount of time.

  2. I keep looking at your post because we will travel over to that area in just a few weeks. I am not sure what we will do yet; plans are still in motion. We live in the Irvington area; not far from Bayou La Batre, so I know about the oil spill crisis. We talked about the Waterville location, Easter Shore Center, Foley Outlet Malls, the gulfarium in Fort Walton Beach, as well as the famous Lambert's Cafe! So much to do, isn't it? Can't wait!

  3. It will definitely be a "hot spot" July 1 when Jimmy Buffet and friends will be hosting a free concert to help out the Gulf Coast.

  4. Hi, Leah!
Your post brings to mind soooo many wonderful memories of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for me. There is no getaway quite like them for rest and relaxation, great food, and incredible scenery. My favorite activity is sitting out by the water and getting lost in a good read! (: When you mentioned listening to the waves crashing on the shore, I wanted to just "load up!"
Some days I will not even watch the news because I just hate seeing the devastation that the oil spill is having upon the marvels of nature there! Incredibly sad!!

  5. Leah,
I really enjoy looking at your blog. I think that the topic for your blog was a great idea and you have shared many great "hot spots" with all of us. Although with the oil these days it does not seem that we would think of the beach as being a hot spot, I think for all us that have grown up so close to the beaches our while lives can't help but see it as a hot spot in the summer no matter what. I look forward to going down there in the next couple of weeks:)
